Nigeria Army has solicited the cooperation of traditional rulers in Northwest Nigeria in the provision of reliable and actionable information that will aid the military combat armed banditry in the region.
The Chief of Army Staff, (COAS) Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, made the plea, Friday, when he paid a visit to the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Farouk Umar, at his palace in Daura, stating that provision of information is crucial and pivotal to combating activities of criminals.
He reaffirmed Nigerian Army’s readiness toward collaborating with other security agencies and stakeholders to degrade activities of bandits and other criminals in Katsina State the Northwest.
While appreciating the Emir and people of Daura for their support and cooperation to the troops, the COAS urged traditional rulers to use their position to regenerate and firm up their information network in an effort to enhance the operational efficiency of troops in addressing banditry in their localities.
In a remark, the Emir commended Nigerian Army and the COAS for their sacrifices and dedication towards curtailing banditry and other security challenges bedevilling the state.
He stated that the people of Daura will not hesitate in volunteering within their capacity to mobilize grassroot support for the troops.
The Royal father urged the COAS and troops not to rest on their oars until normalcy is completely restored.
During the tour, the COAS also had interactive session with officers from other security agencies.
