German Airliner, Lufthansa, has resumed direct flights operations to Port Harcourt International Airport.
A statement by Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), says, “the Airbus A330-343 Aircraft touched down PHIA by 1810hours with 60pax on board and was saluted with water canon by the men of ARFFS.”
The statement says the Regional General Manager SS/SE and Airport Manager PHIA was delighted to receive the Airline back to Port Harcourt.
“Nice to see you again Lufthansa German Airline”.
Following the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority’s announcement of the reopening of Port Harcourt airport for international flights, in July, Lufthansa announced that it will resume its operations to Port Harcourt, starting Friday 2nd of August, offering five weekly departures to Frankfurt, with one stop in Abuja.
It says, the return flight from Frankfurt to Port Harcourt will be nonstop with a flight time of only six hours and twenty minutes.
Lufthansa is the first International Airline to connect Port Harcourt directly to Europe and beyond, and the only one to service three Nigerian Airports with Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt.

“We are happy that we soon come back to Port Harcourt, responding to demand not only from the corporates the Oil & Energy sector but also increasingly from private travellers from Nigeria, who want to visit family and friends in Europe and abroad. With the rapid vaccine rollout in Nigeria and across the world, we are also optimistic that travel recovery is imminent.”
