Aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kafanchan Ward B, Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, northwest Nigeria, have distanced themselves from a purported list of consensus ward exco from the ward.
Addressing Newsmen in Kafanchan on Saturday at the Igbo townhall Ibadan Street, the supposed venue of the party congress in the ward, one of the aggrieved members, Alhaji Nuhu Tanko Babanlere, said major stakeholders of the party where not consulted before the said consensus was reached.
He explained that all efforts by them to get the true picture on how the congress will be conducted from the ward and local government officials proved abortive, as the officials he said kept telling them they don’t know anything about it.
Babanlere who is a onetime councilor of the ward noted with dismay how a list of officials will be submitted without the consent of those who are contesting and have purchased forms to contest different positions in the party from the ward were not consulted.
He appealed to the Kaduna State Governor who is the leader of the party to wade into the problem to avoid a repeat of what happened in Zamfara State which led to the disqualification of candidates of the party in the elections.
The APC stalwart however, called on all well meaning members of the party to condemn the act of illegality which he said is been pursuit by selfish individuals who are afraid to contest for elective positions through the ballot.
When contacted, the APC chairman in Jema’a Local Government Area, Ibrahim Koli, said all the party adopted consensus in the selection of party officials across the Local Government Area, as such he does not know where the grievances was coming from.
