General Overseer of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry, Pastor Yohanna Buru, has appealed to ram sellers to crash prices of rams and other domestic animals to enable Muslims afford them for the coming Islamic eid festivity.
Pastor Buru was speaking when he led a team of Christian and Islamic clerics to some markets in Kaduna, on a 3-Day price reduction campaign, with a view to appealing on sellers of animals to reason with low-income Muslims, who should also be able to slaughter animals as part of the Islamic rites.
He noted that the high cost of foodstuff amidst COVID-19 pandemic and insecurity challenges is a big problem to every family in Nigeria, hence the need for Christian clerics to organize a campaign targeted towards ram sellers on the importance of reducing the high cost of animals.
Pastor Buru urged abled Muslims to extend a hand of fellowship to the needy, especially those in the IDPs camps, the widows, the orphans, and other less privileged with foodstuff, for them to celebrate Sallah like every other Muslims.
He also appealed to Muslims to use the occasion to pray for peace and stability of Nigeria, reminding them that the Christians and Muslims were members of one family Under God.
Responding, Chairman of Zango ram sellers’ market in Kaduna, Musa Usman SIKOLA, thanked Pastor Buru and his team for the visit and their mission.
He expressed delight that a Christian cleric was leading campaign on food prices on behalf of underprivileged Muslims.
Mr. Usman said, contrary to the thought of the public, prices of rams and other domestic animals in the market were not expensive, adding that, “we sell Sallah rams at affordable prices to enabled every family celebrate like every other Muslims around the world.
“There are Rams of N30,000 to N40,000 and N50,000 respectively.”
He also called on Nigerian government to as a matter of urgency bring an end to insecurity challenges affecting every sector of development.
