Nigeria: 8 Killed, Village Sacked in Southern Kaduna Attack

An attack on Southern Kaduna villages in Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State has left 8 people dead and several others with bullets wounds.

Sources told our reporter that the attacks took place in Matyei Village and Abuyab Community, leaving all the houses in Matyei, more than one hundred of them razed down.

“A whole village of more than 100 houses burnt down, ECWA Church and the Family House of a retired General were burnt down. This occurred Last night when the attacks started at about 10:30 am and lasted for about 3 hours,” says a villager who escaped the attack.

The Family House of a retired General, Shekari Biliyock, former ECOMOG Field Commander in Nigeria Peace Keeping Mission was not left behind, as the compound was also razed.

The Bandits also laid ambush between Gorah Gida and Shiliam Communities, where they shot 3 people, one of the victims died and 2 taken to hospital.

The military forces sent to the area to keep peace are stationed in Zango Urban.

The surrounding communities are pointing accusing fingers and alleging that Zango urban is used by bandits for hide out, where they settle down, get prepared and launch attacks against them.

The distance between Zango Urban, where the military forces are stationed to Abuyab and Matyei is about 3 kilometres.

As at the time of writing this report, Kaduna State Police Command was yet to issue a statement on the development, and calls to the State Police Spokesman, Muhammed Jalige were not successful.
