Opposition All Liberian Party has called on Liberians to reject the recommendation made by the Liberian Senate for the setting up of a Transitional Justice Commission to investigate and implement the report and findings of the Truth and reconciliation Commission (TRC).

The party, in a statement signed by its Secretary General, Elmond T. Barclay termed the action of the Liberian senate as a betrayal and a circumvention of the will of the Liberian people, who have called for the establishment of the war and economic crimes court.

The ALP declares its support for the ongoing efforts by the International Community and the United States Government in particular,  towards accountability and curbing impunity in Liberia.

AFRICA PRIME NEWS reports that ALP has been unequivocal in its calls for the establishment of the war and economic crimes court.

Its political leader, Hon. Benoni W. Urey was one of the first high-profiled political leaders to have called for the establishment of the war and economic crimes court during former president Ellen JohnsonSirleaf’s regime and even currently; while others, because of their selfish and political interests, were unclear and uncertain.

The ALP has participated in series of demonstrations along with Civil Society Organizations (CSO) to call the attention of the world in addressing the issues of accountability and impunity in Liberia.

Meanwhile, the ALP has expressed deepest condolences to Liberians who have lost relatives and loved ones to covid-19.

While urging members of the public to adhere to all health measures prescribed by health authorities in the country, the Party also commends health-workers across the country for their sacrifices and dedication in the fight against the deadly disease.

The Party calls on the government to use the expertise of every institution available and  not limit it to a particular group saying that the threat to society is real and transcends politics.
