As South Sudan celebrates a decade of independence, the country welcomes regional leaders and industry executives to the fourth edition of South Sudan Oil & Power (SSOP) 2021. Taking place at the Crown Hotel in Juba on the 29th-30th June 2021 and organized by Energy Capital & Power (ECP), SSOP 2021 will focus on exploration, infrastructure, power sector expansion, and financing to stimulate an industry revival and drive socioeconomic growth country-wide.
Representing the first event in ECP’s renewed calendar, SSOP 2021 is a testament to the significant international interest and recognition of South Sudan as a top investment destination. Driven by renewed peace and reconciliation, ECP fully supports and celebrates South Sudan at its decade of independence.
South Sudan is prioritizing cooperation and partnerships through the establishment of regional ties. With attendance confirmations and support granted by influential foreign ministers on South Sudan’s tenth anniversary as an independent nation, regional growth and unity remain at the forefront of SSOP 2021.
As the nation’s primary energy conference, SSOP 2021 will host regional ministers and government representatives from all over the world. Launching the conference under the theme #BuildtheNation: Capital raising and innovative financing to build critical energy and infrastructure projects, keynote speeches and presentations will be made by Hon. Puot Kang Chol, Minister of Petroleum; Hon. Peter Marcello Nasir, Minister of Energy and Dams; Hon. Kuol Athian Mawien, Minister of Trade and Industry; Hon. Dhieu Mathok Diing, Minister of Investment; and Hon. Gen. James Hoth Mai, Minister of Labour.
Guest ministers from around the region are scheduled to speak and hold meetings. These include Hon. Jaden Ali, Minister of Energy and Oil, Sudan; Hon. Abdirashid Mohamed Ahmed, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Somalia; Hon. Tarek El-Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Egypt; Hon. Dr. Mohamed Shaker El-Markabi, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Egypt; and Hon. Gwede Mantashe, Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, South Africa.
Notably, SSOP 2021 will see individual presentations by national oil company Nilepet, and joint operating companies Dar Petroleum Operating Company, Greater Pioneer Operating Company and Sudd Petroleum Operating Company, as well as workshops by Afreximbank and Stanbic Bank. Focusing on new and existing projects across South Sudan, the presentations and workshops will provide critical information for investors interested in this new and rewarding market.
