Nigeria: Price Of Rice To Crash Soon – RIFAN …Launches Paddy Rice Sales To Millers

Price of rice, Nigerians’ stable food is expected to crash soon following the flagg-off of Paddy sales and Wet Season Anchor Borrower programme in Kaduna, by the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria, RIFAN.

Hundreds of thousands tonnes of paddy Rice are being released from warehouses across the country to millers who would mill and subsequently flood the market with the locally produced rice.

At the occasion in Kaduna, Northwest Nigeria, Thursday, the National President of the Association, Alhaji Aminu Muhamad Goronyo described the event as a success story of the Association.

The commodity, he said, would be made available to Nigerians at subsidised and affordable rate so as to cushion the effect of the prevailing Economic hardship.
He said the Launch being carried out in 16 States was on the directive Of President Muhamadu Buhari.

Other officials of the Association who spoke, said the reality of what they had been advocating has been realised adding that agriculture is a viable sector if well coordinated by all Stakeholders.
The Anchor programme, they said, has encouraged many Nigerian farmers to go into the sector..

On their part, officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, operators of the Anchor programme, promised to sustain it and WARNED against hoarding of the commodity .

They expressed delight that Nigerian youth are now into agriculturel, pointing out that with the tempo, there would be stability in the price of the commodity and affordable.
The occasion also featured the formal launch of the wet season.
