This week, the U.S. Congress passed a law that establishes June 19 as #Juneteenth National Independence Day, a federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.
Today marks a historic day for all who have come to support black lives through the many protests, activism efforts, and prejudices that have been dismantled individually over the years in the name of creating a more perfect union.
Americans now officially have a day to educate, commemorate, and celebrate the day slavery ended in the United States.
