Mai Tangle: Respect Wishes Of The People, CAN Tells Gombe Governor

Date:

By Joseph Edegbo

As tension, anxiety and fear becloud the Tangale Nation following delays by the Gombe State Government to act on the appointment of new Mai Tangle, the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN has waded in by advising Governor Inuwa Yahaya to do the needful to avoid crisis.

CAN, in a statement in Gombe, urged the government to expedite action in respecting the wishes of the people for the sake of peace, religious freedom and equity.

The Association noted with concern that the situation had forced the peace loving people of Tangale Nation to streets, causing tension and fear which might degenerate, unless urgent steps were taken.

It called on churches in the State to fast and pray for 3 days beginning this Friday, to seek the face of God and His intervention over the situation in Tangale chiefdom.

The prayer, the statement emphasised, would be rounded up at CAN Gombe Centre where all clergies would be assembled in their clerical gown on Sunday by 3 PM.
