Christians in Nigeria have been urged to unite as a single unit in pursuit of National Development, regardless of many challenges confronting the church in the country.

Vice Chancellor, Bingham University, Prof Barnabas Williams Qurix gave the charge in a paper he presented at a public lecture as part of activities to mark the 60th birthday of Pastor Chris Devan Gwamna, the Presiding Pastor of the King of All Kings Church .

In the paper entitled, The Role of the Church in Nation Building, Prof. Qurix said the importance of a united church cannot be over emphasised noting that the coming of the missionary brought about sound education and welfare to the church which laid the foundation for the church over the years.

“Many NGOs have been established to take care of the less privileged but the church is actually the one that should drive this process of taking care of the less privileged,  not the NGOs that do not know exactly what is even the spirit behind all this” he said.

Prof Qurix emphasized the need for more institutions that will drive national development like the ICPC and EFCC.

Also speaking, Professor Victor Dugga said church leaders must strive to understand the heart of God and drive people towards it.

He expressed concern over the many blocs that have divided the church saying that this must be dealt with, for the church to take its place of rebuilding unity and development in the country.

The Chairman of the occasion and former Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Ambassador Nuhu Bajoga observed that the celebrant, Pastor Chris Delvan has been a blessing to him as an individual and his family as a whole.
