Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State has frowned at the pension system which has no “credible data” in the State.
The Governor stated this when he received officials of the Premium Pensions Limited at the Government House on an advocacy visit on Tuesday.
Governor Bala maintained that his administration is working round the clock to improve the integrity of the state’s pension data to fend off leakages in conformity with global best practices.
The Governor described the visit as a deciding point “in terms of pension management and human capital development in Bauchi State.”
“With humility, I can say that Bauchi State is working because of what we are doing and we will remove Bauchi from poverty and bad governance,” the governor said.
The Governor expressed trust that mutual partnership between the state and Premium Pensions will help free resources to be channeled to provision of basic social amenities and address poverty in the state.
He said that the Pension Contributory Scheme if implemented would enable retired civil servants access capital markets loans for self reliance.
Alhaji Ibrahim Alhasaan Babayo, Chairman Premium Pensions said the visit seeks to established partnership with the state government for effective pension management in the state.
The Chairman said that his firm will render advisory services to the state dwelling on implementation of the Contributory Pension Scheme in the state.
“Your Excellency, we are here in Bauchi to introduce our company to you for mutual partnership as a move to assist you find lasting solutions to leakages in the pension scheme of Bauchi State,” he said.
