2ND BAGAUDA KALTHO MEMORIAL MEDIA LECTURE HOLDS VIRTUALLY ON TUESDAY

The 2020 Bagauda Kaltho Memorial Media Lecture series of the Africa Media Development Foundation (AMDF), comes up on Tuesday 13th October, 2020 at 2pm Nigerian time.
The virtual Lecture which will draw participants from across the globe has as its theme “Press Freedom vs. Digital Surveillance: How Safe is the African Journalist”.
A statement signed by the Executive Director, AMDF, Iliya Kure says the theme of the lecture has become necessary in view of the emerging challenges where journalists are being monitored, stalked or having their digital identities stolen.
The lecture will feature Courage in Journalism Award in recognition of a journalist who, regardless of all odds, source Stories
The first Memorial Media Lecture held in 2019, examined varying issues that impacted on media practice in Africa, as well as its role in shaping democracy.
Late Bagauda Kaltho in whose memory the lecture is being held, was one of the courageous Nigerian Journalists who went missing in a mysterious circumstance in 1996.
