Build more Senior Sec. Schools – APC Chieftain Advocates

Date:

Perturbed by the high numbers of spillover pupils who finished their junior secondary schools without being enrolled into Senior classes, Chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Sunny Sylvester Moniedafe is advocating for the creation of more secondary schools across the country.
Sunny said the inability to adequately engage the young ones into schools and meaningful ventures is no doubt one of the causes of most of the social vices the country is experiencing.
The critical stakeholder of the ruling party called government at all levels to urgently establish more senior secondary schools, as well as Craft schools, Vocational centres, Technical schools and other Trade subjects courses to accommodate the spillover.
Moniedafe who is the current National President of Villanova Government College, Numan, Old Students Association Adamawa state worried that government secondary schools during their time were better funded and graduate good students than what is happening now.
“The dangers inherent in the current situation prevailing in the Education sector, where we have more junior sec schools than the senior. In the FCT, for instance, we have 77 senior secondary schools to 167 junior schools.
In Adamawa State, we have 400 senior secondary schools to 1,200. Every year we have thousands of youths that cannot be admitted into senior secondary schools is really a call for concern.” Sunny said
Sylvester who is eyeing the position of National Chairman of the ruling APC party advised that Junior schools be well funded by UBEC as institutions of higher learning are being funded by TETFUND and  Senior secondary schools are funded from the monthly allocation from the government.
Sylvester while in a phone interview with our correspondent lamented that the child right to Education must be properly enforced, according to him an educated child will bring about an educated and enlightened society resulting to harmonious and peaceful coexistence.
