Borno Governor, Professor Babagana Umara on Sunday and Monday, attended separate Luncheon organized for troops by the Chiefs of Army Staff and Air Staff in Maiduguri.
The latest, hosted Monday by the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Sadiq Abubakar at Air taskforce component battalion in Maiduguri.
Zulum had on Sunday attended similar lunch hosted by the Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai which took place at Maimalari contonment also in the state lpcapital.
The Governor alongside the service Chiefs served soldiers fighting Boko Haram insurgents at the front line.
In Good will messages delivered separately, Governor Zulum reiterated his administration’s commitment to continuously support the Nigerian military in the fight against insurgency.
The Governor applauded the service chiefs for organising such occasions, where troops will have interface with their officers, stating that this will go along way in motivating them, which in turn increase their efficiency and productivity.
“Men and officers of the Nigerian military as micro-cousins of the Nigerian security architecture has to be motivated for greater efficiency and productivity.” Zulum said.
The Governor also extended his appreciation to the officers and soldiers in the theater of operation lafiya dole for the sacrifices they have been making.
Zulum apart from the fight against insurgency also acknowledges the humanitarian response and first aid treatment offered by the Nigerian military to the Internally Displaced Persons and the people rescued from captivity.
“I wish to express my sincere appreciation to the Nigerian military for the enormous support that you have been rendering towards protecting the lives and properties of our people. We remain eternally grateful to all of you, and Insha Allah in the fulness of time posterity will judge you positively for contributing in sustaining peace in your motherland.” Zulum said.
The military chiefs have maintained traditions of hosting troops and serving them lunch during religious festivities for both Muslims and Christians.
