Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has approved and visited two sites where the stage government will soon embark on the construction of mega fuel stations in Maiduguri.
Zulum on Wednesday morning visited the locations at Yerewa and Ngomari, opposite Airforce base after an earlier visit to Borno Supply Company (BOSCO), government owned petroleum haulage marketing company.
It would be recalled that Governor Zulum had on 4th April, during a meeting with stakeholders in Borno’s petroleum sector announced his administration’s intention to establish 4 mega filling stations in Maiduguri.
In fulfillment of his pledge, Zulum was at BOSCO’s head office to assess the company’s level of preparation towards the take off of the mega filling stations.
Governor Zulum, reiterated that Government aims to enhance the distribution of petroleum products in the state to meet increasing population and the powering public institutions (like generators which provide energy for water supply equipment, hospitals, streetlights etc).
“As you can see here, we have procured these 3 trucks to convey petroleum to our mega filling stations that will take off soon. I have stated earlier, this decision is to enhance the distribution of the petroleum products and ease hardship associated with petroleum in the state.” Zulum said.
Responding to the Governor, General Manager BOSCO, Alh. Umar Mohammed assured of the company’s readiness for the take off, stating that rehabilitation and upgrading work at the GRA filling station reached advance level.
Alh. Umar added, beside enhancing the distribution in Maiduguri, the company will expand to other Local Government Areas that have attained some level peace.
He also assured that BOSCO filling stations will ensure 24 hours services when starts operations, the company’s supermarket will also be revived to commence major distribution of other products to marketers.
