Nigeria: Kaduna Closes Down Private School As Proprietor Rapes Pupil

The Kaduna State Government , Northwest Nigeria, says it has withdrawn the license and also closed down Liberation College Tirkania, Kaduna, whose proprietor, reportedly confessed to raping a 9-year-old pupil on tape.
The incidence, confirmed by the Kaduna State Ministry of Human Services and Social Development, made the Kaduna State Ministry of Education to act immediately, by taking the drastic action.
A statement by the Commissioner for Education, Shehu Usman Muhammad said the withdrawal of the license is based on the power vested on the Kaduna State Schools Quality Assurance Authority, in Part IV, section 17(1)h of the law establishing the Authority, the license of Liberation College Tirkania, Kaduna is hereby REVOKED & the school CLOSED.
“The Kaduna state government is therefore calling on all Parents and guardians to withdraw their children or wards from the school while government will continue to look into the case with a view of deepening further investigation on the matter.
“Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Governor has also directed KASUPDA to look into the school’s development permit and take further action within two weeks while the culprit, Mr. Ejikeme is being detained for prosecution”, the statement concludes.
