Borno: Zulum Approves N578m Scholarship For 23,894 Students

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum has approved N578,682,000 for the payment of scholarship to Borno students pursuing PhD, Masters  and undergraduate degrees in different tertiary institutions within and outside the  state.
Commissioner of Higher Education  Prof. Isa Hussaini disclosed this at a meeting with stakeholders on Tuesday in Maiduguri.
The Commissioner explained that about 23,776 students schooling in Nigeria and 118 foreign students are already benefitting in the first batch of disbursement.
Prof. Marte added that the State scholarship board was making sure that all payments are made into the beneficiaries’  bank accounts.
This, according to the Commissioner,  is to ensure transparency and accountability.
In compliance with Governor Zulum’s instruction, names of students for the first batch have been listed and will be made public through various online and social media platforms, including Facebook and Twitter handles of the Governor which enjoy good traffic of followers.
