Nigeria : Policy Document On Free , Compulsory Education For Girls In Public Sec. Sch. Developed  In Kaduna

Kaduna State with support from AMDF Rise Up project has developed a policy document on compulsory education for girls in public secondary schools, awaiting the approval of the State Governor .
The Project Manager, Mr Benjamin Maigari announced this during a meeting  with implementers of the new policy held in the three senatorial Zones in the State.
 The meetings which had in attendance,  zonal directors of education,  SBMC, PTA, ANCOPPS, teachers and other stakeholders were aimed at educating the policy implementers on the document and what would be expected of them.
The Manager said the State with support from the Project has developed a policy document that is awaiting the approval of the state governor.
 He told the implementers that the program though laudable from inception,  lacked a supporting document , hence the Project.
 Being the implementers of the program, the project Manager said , the participants need to know what the policy is and work towards its actualization.
The participants lauded the project saying that this was the first time they are involved in policy process and being the implementers, they expected government to carry them along.
 While promising to put in their best for the actualization of the policy in the state ,the participants also thanked the Governor for given the children of the poor, the opportunity to have quality education.
 They however stressed the need for the  government to make provisions in all the schools, the basic needs that would enhance the free education in the state.
Mr.Maigari had earlier spoken on the Rise Up project and what Africa Media Development Foundation, AMDF was doing. 
 
He stated that AMDF was advocating for policy document on the free and compulsory education for girls in public secondary schools in Kaduna State  with support from the Public Health Institute of John Hopkins University Rise up project with support from Cummins .INC.
The meeting was held in Zaria, Kaduna and Kafanchan ,the three senatorial headquarters in the state.
