Kaduna NUJ Felicitates With El-rufa’i @ 60

Members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists , Kaduna State Council, have felicitated with Governor Nasir El-rufa’i as he clocks 60, wishing him many productive years to serve the State and the nation at large.
In a communique issued after its congress on Tuesday, members of the union also
 lauded the introduction of the State Health Insurance scheme aimed at making medical services accessible to civil servants in both public and private sectors.
 
The communique observes that the scheme  would go along way in alleviating the sufferings encountered by many. 
Also lauded, was  the accreditation of Medical Department of Kaduna state University ( KASU) , which the congress observed,  will help to give credence to  medical graduates of the institution..
The congress also acknowledge with delight the  ongoing Urban renewal projects across  Kaduna metropolis saying it gives the metropolitan area ,  a modern facelift  which it deserves as the capital of the defunct Northern Region. It however urged the government  to extend the renewal projects to  other zones in the state. 
Congress expresses a serious concern over rising security challenges facing  the state and urged the state Government to explore the option of Intelligence gathering and  community based policing to curb the spread of frequent kidnapping and armed banditry in the state. It calls for strong synergy  between the state government and relevant security agencies.
The Congress expressed sadness over the loss of former Secretary of the Council, Chief Dominic Uzu who died in a ghastly auto accident along Kaduna-Zaria road on 4th February, 2020.
It Condoled the family, friends and colleagues of the late Journalist who was the Chairman of NUJ Electoral Committee that  conducted the 2018 Council’s  election.
The congress praised the Kano State Government for being the first to send a condolence message over the demise of the Late Dominic Uzu. It also commended NUJ Kano Council for taking the lead as first Council to send delegation to Kaduna for condolence.
It urged all home based media proprietors in the State to as a matter of priority pay backlogs of salaries owed their staff or face  union action .The  authorities of the affected media houses , the congress ssys, should know that it is only when salaries are paid as at when due ,that  issues of professionalism and commitments to duties can be guaranteed.
Members also expressed gratitude to the Governor of Benue State , Mr Samuel Ortom for appointing one of their colleagues, Mr Ben Agande as General Manager of Benue State Publishing Company.
“We are very much sure that Mr. Agande would not fail the Governor and people of Benue State”.the communique concludes.
