NUJ Kaduna Council Mourns Chief Dominic Uzu

The Kaduna State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ),  has declared a seven-day period of mourning following the tragic death of its former Treasurer and Secretary, Chief Dominic Uzu, which sad event occurred in a tragic fatal accident along Kaduna-Zaria Highway on Tuesday February 4, 2020.

The declaration is contained in a statement signed by its Assistant Secretary, Shindon Bala, made available on Tuesday.

“To this end, the NUJ State Council has declared 7 days of mourning from  Wednesday 5th February, 2020,” it stated.

The council  described the news as not only devastating but shocking .

“With heavy heart, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) , Kaduna State Council announced the sudden death of one of our Outstanding members, Chief Dominic Eze Uzu.

“He died today, Tuesday February 4th, 2020 following a ghastly motor accident on Kaduna – Zaria Road,” it stated.

The council said that the late Chief Dominic Eze Uzu was a former staff of New Nigeria Newspapers where he was Sports Editor of New NIGERIAN on Sunday, and held several positions in NUJ as Treasurer and State Secretary as well as Executive Member of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria.

“Chief Dominic Uzu was also the National Coordinator and One of the Founders of Arewa online Publishers Association, a position he held until his death. He was the CEO/Publisher of City Source Online newspaper.

“He died leaving behind a wife four children and several relatives.

“A condolence register has been opened at the Secretariat,” it said
