Nigeria :Food Security, Our Top Priority – Borno Govt

Food security being one of the cardinal objectives of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum’s Administration, Borno State Ministry of Agriculture has embarked on an assessment of dry season farming site hitherto known as (firgi) in Mafa and some parts of Dikwa.

The high-powered assessment team led by the Commissioner of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Engr. Bukar Talba, accompanied by an elder statesman Hon. Musa Inuwa Kubo and the permanent secretary of the ministry Bar. Bajile M. Musa.
In all the places visited Engr. Talba addresses the group of farmers gathered to benefit from the scheme.
The Commissioner explained that government would establish such farms in all the three senatorial zones. He added that in Central and Northern Borno, which is mostly swampy sorghum will be cultivated while rice will be cultivated in southern Borno.
