Family Health Advocates in Nigeria Initiative, FHANI, says it will not relent in its advocacies for cash backings on approved projects by the Kaduna State government.
Chairman of the group and District Head of Doka, metropolitan city of Kaduna. North-west Nigeria, Alhaji Bala Tijjani, gave the assurance on Wednesday when he led a team on an advocacy visit to the State Drug Management Agency.
The advocacy team was earlier told by officials of the Agency that a number of approvals given by the government have no cash backing saying “monies are hanging”.
Alhaji Bala observed that without cash backing, the desired impact on family planning activities in the State would be negative.
He however applauded the State government for the budgetary provision for family planning saying that no State in the country could rub shoulders with Kaduna in that direction.
“Wherever we from Kaduna go to in this country, we hold our heads high”, he said.
Alhaji Bala also commended the Agency for the innovations put in place for the implementation of its mandates which include drug procurement, management and distribution.
“Indices have shown that you have all it takes to achieve alot”, the Chairman said.
He however advised the Agency that any additional expenditure arising from the concept should be built in the budget for sustainability.
Assistant Director Pharmaceutical Services in the Agency, Mrs Mercy Ibrahim Boyis appealed to Civil Society Organizations to assist in advocating for government to make releases and cash backings for improved service delivery.
The Assistant Director disclosed that the Agency is keeping tap on drug distribution system where coded products given to end users at the facilities are recorded immediately through sms.
