Alh. Abdul-Aziz Yari

The immediate past Governor of Zamfara state, Alh. Abdul -Aziz Yari has said that the allegations by the People’s Democratic Party, PDP‘s transition committee led by the former deputy governor is a calculated attempt to mislead the public for political gains.

The Transition Committee had alleged that the then Yari led Administration left a debt to the tune of N251,951,849, 482.50 as liabilities for the present Administration.

A statement made available to AFRICA PRIME NEWS on Wednesday by Yari’s Spokesman, Ibrahim Dosara noted that the Chairman of the Transition Committee, Mal. Ibrahim Wakkala while serving as the Deputy Governor to the immediate past administration was the State’s Administration and the Chairman Finance and General Purpose Committee, FGPC ( Tenders Board) responsible for the award of all contracts in the state.

He described the allegations against the former governor as not only crazy, baseless, unfounded and misleading, but a calculated attempt to smear the good name and record of the immediate past Governor.

Dosara emphasised that the allegation was weighty which cannot be swept under carpet by any highly respected and responsible Administration like that of Abdul Aziz Yari.

“Let put the record straight that the past administration left no debt behind but rather, handed over the sum of seven billion to the new government.

“The committee’s report has failed to distinguished between debt funds for the completion and ongoing projects”, Dosara stated.

He wondered how a former governor who served in different capacity for eight years could mislead the public with such false claims.

According to him, Yari, while in office as governor provided wide range of dividends of democracy to the good people of Zamfara state.

He noted that the Yari led Administration had provided over 1000 Kms of roads across the state, water and electricity supply, educational and health facilities among others were being enjoyed during his tenure.

Dosara recalled that President Buhari once described Yari as a performing governor, and the President was quoted as saying: “I have known Gov. Yari even before I became president; he invited me to commission projects. Yari is therefore one of the performing Governors in Nigeria”.
