2019 Press Freedom Day: Media Lauds Nigerian Breweries’ Corporate Social Responsibility

Date:

By Joseph Edegbo:

Committed to their corporate social responsibility, the country’s foremost brewing company, Nigerian Breweries PLC, on May 3rd, 2019 took the Media by surprise in Kaduna, Northwest of the country.

It was at the inaugural Bagauda Kaltho Media Memorial lecture, organized by Africa Media Development Foundation, (AMDF) to mark the 2019 Press Freedom Day, when the Breweries ‘branded’ the event with their soft drinks.

The donation of the mouth watering products was applauded by participants at the event when they were informed of the support to AMDF.

Nigerian Breweries were not alone in identifying with the media at the lecture, as one of the leading caterings in the City, Huldah Catering and Baking Services, also supported the occasion with snacks.

The Executive Director, AMDF, Iliya Kure who informed the gathering that the support from the Breweries and Caterings had greatly contributed to the success of the lecture, also thanked other organizations which identified with the organizer.

Bagauda Kaltho in whose honour the maiden lecture was posthumously held, worked with The News Magazine but disappeared in a miraculous circumstance in January 1996 during the tyrannical rule of Late General Abacha.

That was after a popular interview he had with General Muhammad Buhari, Titled “Why I Was Toppled”,  an interview which the government of the day got provoked.
