The Kaduna State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists has frowned the high rate of kidnapping, banditry and other acts of criminality and wants security agencies in Nigeria to take proactive Measures against the menace

To this end, the Council advised them to place priority on intelligent gathering with the aim of dislodging the kidnappers and bandits from their hideouts.

The Council made its Stance known in a Communique issued at the end of its Congress which also X-rayed the affairs of the State.

The Congress particularly referred to the frequency of the criminal acts along Kaduna – Abuja road and Birnin Gwari axis which it said should be immediately addressed through the collaborative efforts of both the security agencies and the State Government.

Expressing worries over the sophisticated weapons used by the kidnappers and armed bandits, the Congress wondered how they acquired such fire arms and therefore called on the Government to tackle the proliferation of such deadly weapons in the State and nation

On the 2019 General Elections, the Congress commended the people of Kaduna State for the peaceful manner they conducted themselves during the exercise.

It noted that despite the earlier impression that the election would be marred by violence, crisis and blood-letting in Kaduna State, it turned out to be peaceful.

The Congress however condemned the attitude of the military getting involved in the electoral process, describing such as unacceptable.

On the economy, the Congress urged the Government to be up and doing in stabilizing the economy of the country, pointing out that the citizens are facing immense hardship

It also expressed concern over the declining electricity supply.
