Nigeria: Kaduna Lifts Curfew On Security Threatened Communities

Date:

Gov. Nasir El-Rufa’i

The Kaduna State Government, NorthWest Nigeria has lifted the dusk to dawn curfew imposed on  Maraban Rido and Kujama communities of Chikun Local Government Area .

The lifting of the curfew was as a result of return of peace after the area was threatened with crisis emanating from the breakdown of law and order in Kajuru some weeks ago.

In a statement by the Governor’s Spokesman, Samuel Aruwan, the latest “announcement means that residents of these communities are free to go about their lawful business at all hours of the day”.

However, the 6pm to 6am curfew is still in force in the entire Kajuru local government area,

According to him, “the security agencies will continue to enforce the curfew in Kajuru LGA until further notice.”

Aruwan also added that “Government appeals to all communities to continue to do their utmost to preserve peace and harmony”.
