Stakeholders on Insecurity in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Northwest Nigeria say they have taken steps to ensuring Ceasefire in all communities affected in the recent Crises.
They also resolved and agreed to work towards better cohesion among the different communities by living in peace and harmony with one another irrespective of tribe and religion.
These were parts of the Communique issued at the end of the Stakeholders’ Summit held on Thursday at Kasuwan Magani and made available to newsmen by the Chairman of the Local Government Council, Cafra Caino.
The Summit which was held to identify the root causes of Insecurity and proffer long term solutions, called for the immediate setting up of Truth and Reconciliation Committee to receive memorandum from all the tribal groups ( Adara, Hausa and Fulani) within the Local Government Area.
While calling for the immediate end to the incessant killings and burning of houses and properties, the Stakeholders stressed the need to encourage religious harmony where christians and muslims celebrate their festivities together.
The Communique which appreciated all the security agencies for their sacrifice and Commitment to bringing Peace to the area, however urged them to intensify intelligent gathering to avert future attack.
The Stakeholders who acknowledged the efforts of the State Government in resolving the Crises, canvassed for more interventions towards attaining a lasting peace in the area.
The Communique blamed the social media of spreading fake news on the crises, noting that it had escalated the situation and therefore appealed to the new media to disseminate accurate information to reduce the tension.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Council, Cafra Caino has urged the people to continue to be law abiding and cooperate with the law enforcement agents who have been doing their best in the “very difficult terrain” to contain the security threat.
He announced that there are over 3,000 Internally Displaced Persons including widows, orphans and vulnerable people in the local government area, and therefore called on the National Emergency Management Agency, NGOs, spirited individuals to come to the aid of the Victims.
The Summit was attended by sons and daughters of the Local Government Area, comprising the Emir of Kajuru, District Heads, religious leaders, tribal associations, youth groups and security agencies among others.
