Governor Nasir El-Rufa’i of Kaduna has decried the low turnout of voters at the gubernatorial polls, just as the Governor said he is not under any tension to lose election since President Muhammadu Buhari has been re-elected.
The Governor who is also the gubernatorial candidate of the APC, arrived his polling unit at Ungwar Sarki ward at exactly 8:27 am, said only his staff are jittery of losing election.
“I am not under any tension since Buhari has won. Even if I lose, I already have a job in Abuja. It’s just my staff who are jittery, I usually share this joke with them”, he said.
El-rufa’i who joined other electorate on the queue said the low turnout of electorate was not encouraging compare to the last presidential elections.
The Governor who insisted in joining the queue said that is the right thing to do as a patriotic citizen.
While reacting to the low turnout of electorate, he says: “I am very optimistic that the turnout will improve. I think people are taking their time to come out and cast their votes for the candidates of their voice”.
Speaking on the security situation, the Governor lauded the security agencies for been proactive. ” The military are out, although, they are not close to the polling unit, but they are out to ensure that everyone is save.
“On the part of INEC, they have done well and we hope to have a peaceful election”, the Governor said.
