Nigeria : Kaduna Fulanis Insist Losing Dozens In Kajuru Crisis …want Forensic Examination Of Deaths

Following claims and counter claims arising from the reported Killings in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Northwest Nigeria, Fulani organizations, still insist that at least 131 of their people were killed.

Addressing a news conference in Kaduna on Friday, Spokesperson of the organizations, Sale Alhassan maintained that apart from the earlier figure of 66 deaths announced by the State Governor, many others were burnt while over 100 animals killed along with destruction of several properties.

The Spokesperson described as unfortunate the stance of the State Police Command distancing itself from the claims coming from the Fulanis and the Government on ground that the Command was still carrying out its Investigation into the alleged Killings.

On the timing at which the information was let lose by the government citing Eve of the rescheduled Elections, Alhassan said “timing or no timing if a live could be saved in any situation, is worth it”.

The Spokesman who pledged the people’s Commitment to maintaining Peace, however called for the setting up of an independent Panel of investigation into the Crisis, detailed documentation of the violence, collection of exhibits, Arrest and prosecute perpetrators among others.

The Fulani organizations comprising Cattle Breaders, Kautal Hore Socio- cultural, Mobgal Fulbe, Fulbe Global were at the news conference with some of those claimed to be survivors of the Crisis.
