A Non-Governmental Organization in Gombe state, North-east of the country, Ahmed Kawu Heart for Children Initiative (AKHCI) has donated some household items to two orphanages at Tumfure Quarters in Akko local Government area of the state.
They are Christian New Covenant and Orphanage Foundation, (CNECOF) and Da’awah Orphanage Home.
The Director of the Foundation Malam Sani Adamu Jauro, said the donation of the items which included clothes, 100 pairs of bathroom slippers, two jerrican of liquid soap, four cartons of detergent among others, was aimed at bringing succour to the less privileged in the society.
He said the Foundation, which receives Funding from Pro-Health international, has been engaged in humanitarian services and commended the authorities of the orphanages for the good works they have been doing.
According to him, what they are doing is a great service not only to the children, but to the immediate society and humanity in general.
Jauro also encouraged the authorities of the orphanages to ensure that the orphans are trained and disciplined in such a way that they would not feel neglected by the society but that they could grow to be leaders of tomorrow.
Receiving the items, the Executive Director, Christian New Covenant and Orphanage Foundation (CNECOF), Mr. Polycarp Yusuf Degri, commended Ahmed Kawu Foundation for identifying with them by bringing donations in this season of Christmas.
He decried the attitude of some agencies and NGO’s who he said, divert relief materials meant for the less privileged in the society.
“I call on SEMA, NEMA, NGO’s, Christian and Muslim leaders to be accountable and avoid taking advantage of orphans, widows and other less privileged groups by enriching themselves. God will fight for their rights and no one can stand the wrath of God.
On his part, the Administrative Secretary of Da’awah Orphanage Home, Malam Abubakar Usman appreciated the organization and described the visit as a sign of care and concern for the orphans.
He called on other organizations and individuals to emulate Ahmed Kawu Heart for Children Initiative and prayed Allah to reward their good deeds.
