Nigeria Union Of Journalists Condemns Killing Of Policemen In Kaduna

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna State Council, has condemned in strong term the killing of three police men on Wednesday by bandits in Kaduna, Northwest Nigeria.

At the end of its congress on Thursday, the union however commended the Kaduna State Government for its efforts in tackling insecurity within the state .
It noted that the law passed by Kaduna State House of Assembly in respect of insecurity within the state has led to reduction in the rate of crime especially among the youths .
The congress noted with dismay the current political development and enjoined media practitioners to put the nation above any other consideration in the discharge of their  duties.
It also advised media practitioners and government to work together and not seeing themselves as enemies, but partners in progress. The relationship between the media government, the Congress emphasised, remain sacrosanct for progress and development
The Congress approved the setting up of a 5-member electoral committee to be headed by a former secretary of the union, Comrade Dominic Uzu, to conduct elections into the council leadership whose tenure  terminates on Dec. 15th 2018.
It observed a minute silence over the demise of the President of Black Gold Organisation Chief Sunny Danladi Okogwu, the Ojise of Asaba who died recently.
The congress commiserated with the entire people of Delta and Kaduna States as well as the nation at large over the loss of this illustrious son of Nigeria.
The Congress noted with dismay the situation in many media Houses, especially the New Nigerian Newspapers Ltd whose pensioners and staff alike are put in difficult situation due to what it called the non-challant attitude of the owners.
It pleads that something urgent should be done to save the once vibrant newspaper in Africa from Collapse .
The Congress congratulated the new Vice President of  North West Zone, Comrade Yusuf Idris and others from the Zone over their victories at the just concluded Delegates Conference in Abeokuta, Ogun State, South West Nigeria.
