Former Member of the House of Rep, Mohammed Isa Ashiru is to hoist the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag against the All Progressives Congress in the gubernatorial contest in Kaduna State come 2019 general elections.
He is to face the candidate of the ruling party in the State APC and incumbent, Nasir El Rufai who also emerged on Sunday to once again, hoist his party’s flag.
Ashiru was the incumbent’s second runner up in the 2015 primaries under the APC which he dumped few months ago.
In a keenly contested primaries, Ashiru polled 1,330 out of the 2,654 total votes cast in the election held at the Kaduna International Trade Fair Complex.
Second position went to the Senator representing Kaduna North, Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi after garnering 564 votes, while former Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mohammed Sani Sidi came third with 569 votes, while the immediate past Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero scored 36 votes.
Business mogul, Shuaibi Idris Miqati, also failed to make any impact having polled only 16 votes.
Of the whole votes, 39 were declared invalid.
To demonstrate a good sportsmanship, one of the defeated Gubernatorial aspirants, Sani Sidi congratulated and hugged the winner, Ashiru to the admiration of the voters.
