Netherlands Ambassador to Nigeria, Robert J. Petri, has stressed his country’s commitment to supporting the growth of Nigeria’s economy.

This he said can be achieved through various contributions to agriculture, economic sustainability, peace and security.

The Ambassador stated this when he hosted a group of young people on the platform of Nigeria Youths SDGs Network at the Netherlands Embassy for the August edition of the monthly SDGsStory Hangout.

His statement came shortly after the World Poverty Clock statistics and the Brooklyn report, which placed Nigeria on the top, implying Nigeria is the poorest country in the world.

Speaking on the embassy’s approach to contributing to Peace and Security in Nigeria, the Ambassador said, “We believe very much in dialogue as a model to a peaceful coexistence. In fact, we love to dialogue with people who do not agree with us.

“Here at the Dutch Embassy, our programmes involve private sectors both in Nigeria and in the Netherlands to boost small businesses. We also work closely with the universities and research centres in areas of agriculture to address some of the hindrances to economic sustainability.” Ambassador Petri said.
