Nigeria Police Arrests Mentally Ill Person For Allegedly Killing Monarch

Police in Ekiti, southwest Nigeria on Tuesday say it has arrested a mentally ill person, Omoniyi Stephen, who allegedly stabbed to death the traditional ruler of the community, Oba Gbadebo Ogunsakin.

Police spokesman, DSP Caleb Ikechukwu who made this known to Journalists in Ado Ekiti, alleged that the suspect stabbed Oba Ogunsakin of Odo Oro Ekiti, in Ikole Local Government Area on Monday.

He revealed that Ademola was arrested around 4.30 pm on Monday around Ajao Market in Ado-Ekiti.

“I can confirm to you that the suspect has been arrested.

“He has confessed to the act and our investigation continues.

“The matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for more investigation.”,

The PPRO assured that the police would be professional in their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the killing.
