The immediate past Governor of Kaduna state, Northwest Nigeria , Mukhtar Ramalan Yero has declared his intention under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to go back to Sir Kashim Ibrahim House (Govt House) Kaduna which he vacated in 2015.
Yero who is eyeing his former seat, said his decision was informed by the genuine concern of the People and the numerous calls to contest.
The Gubernatorial Aspirant told top officials of the party on Monday in Kaduna that he had consulted widely and had been given the nod to aspire to rescue the State
On why the immediate past Governor wants to come back, Yero observed that the state under the El-Rufai led administration has witnessed series of half – hearted trial of and errors that have disastrous consequences on the people of the state.
He lamented that the state government no longer cares about the primary purpose of her existence of providing security of lives and property and the welfare of the people.
Yero also lamented that lives and property were being lost daily to the activities of armed banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery and thuggery .
“The relative peace and harmonious coexistence hitherto enjoyed in Kaduna State is under serious threats. It is unfortunate that the citizens have never been more divided than they are now.
“I believe that my humble track record of academic achievements and working experience in both the private and public sectors, have earned me tremendous knowledge, skills and capacity to understand the multiple expectations of our people across the state.
“I am quite aware of the fact that the task ahead is daunting, but as a unifier who hope to rise above divisiveness, sentiments and pettiness, l am convinced that the task is not insurmountable.
“These challenges require among other things, collective will to forge ahead in solidarity backed by dynamic, credible and purposeful leadership. I have had the rare opportunity to have successfully served the state in various capacities as commissioner of finance, deputy governor and subsequently the governor,” he observed.
He assured that if voted in as the governor of the state, he would overcome the critical challenges the people are facing in the state.
According to him, “Kaduna State needs a leader that will turn the tide of fortunes of the state, a detribalised leader with conviction, vision and above all, a leader with the fear of God to be able to harness the vast human and material resources for the well being of the good people of Kaduna State.”
