Members of the public are urged to come forward with any information related to the murder of two members of the South African Police Service in separate incidents.

One reservist Constable was killed in Section H, Ekangala near Bronkhorstspruit on Monday morning when he was responding to a complaint.

On arrival at the scene, the 43 year old Constable approached four men to make enquiries. The men fired several shots at the constable and he succumbed to his wounds. His service firearm was taken.

In a separate incident, on Saturday, a police Sergeant was killed when he arrived home from work at about 6:30pm at Paynville, Springs.

The member was off duty but still in his full uniform when he was killed. The suspects fled the scene without taking anything.

The National Commissioner General Khehla Sitole has condemned the continuous callous attacks on police officers.

“The attacks on our police officers are continuing unabated and I have reiterated to our men and women in blue not to fall with their guns,” said Sitole.

He has tasked a specialised team to track and bring those responsible to book.

Anyone with information that can lead to the arrest and prosecution of the suspects is encouraged to contact the police on SAPS Crime stop number 08600 10111, callers may remain anonymous.
