An amount of R348 million has been paid to non-profit organisations (NPOs) in Gauteng, the provincial government confirmed on Wednesday.

Gauteng Social Development MEC Nandi Mayathula-Khoza said she was pleased that 92% of the provinces subsidised NPOs have received their funding.

“We can confirm that 2 187 Service Level Agreements (SLAs) earmarked for service subsidy have been signed and 193 remain unsigned. A total of 2 064 NPOs have been paid and 316 still unpaid.

“We remain concerned that the delay in NPO payment has affected service delivery. However, we appreciate the cooperation of our NPOs who have responded positively to our request for compliance, and I am grateful that the process is unfolding as swiftly as possible,” said Mayathula-Khoza.

She said the department will continue to monitor the signing of SLAs and NPO payments daily and get all outstanding SLAs processed and paid.

The department will also continue with visits to NPOs to ensure that they receive assistance to comply.
