Governor Dankwambo made the call in his Sallah message to the people to mark the Eid-Fitr festival.
He argued that if Allah in his infinite mercy decided to create the people of Gombe and Nigeria with different ethnic religious and political backgrounds, they should therefore tolerate one another by being patient enough by living in peace .
Dankwambo also called on the people to continue praying for continued peace, development and survival of Nigeria as united and indivisible entity
He maintained that it was only under a peaceful atmosphere that meaningful development could be achieved as no society develop under an atmosphere of acrimony and rancour.
At a sermon at Dubai Quarters Eid ground, Gombe, the Chief Imam, Sheikh Ali Ibrahim enjoined Muslims to see eid-el-fitr as a symbol of collective pursuit of peace and unity of the Muslim ummah
“We thank Allah for witnessing the end of another Ramadan fasting period. I pray that the sacrifices made during the period will not be in vain. Also, we must not forget to always put into practice all the lessons taught us by the Holy Quran as also emphasised by Prophet Mohammed (SAW)
“We must also allow peace to reign in our state and country at large. And as we approach 2019 election, I urged our Muslim brothers and sisters to go out collect their Voter’s Card and to come out on the Election Day to exercise their civic duty. Those involved in the conduct of the poll too must ensure that justice is done to all,” Sheik Ibrahim said.
