A staunch supporter of the embattled Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, Ibrahim Isah has urged the Kogi State Police Command, NorthCentral Nigeria to immediately order the arrest of Kingsley Fanwo, DG Media to the Governor of Kogi State over what he termed “breeding of killer squads to silence the opposition”
Speaking with newsmen in Lokoja, Isah alleged that some boys in a white Hilux trailed them as they left the Magistrate Court, Lokoja where Dino was being tried for criminal conspiracy and supply of arms to criminals.
According to him, the boys numbering five were fully armed and were shooting at their vehicles before they escaped.
“It took the grace of God for us to escape the attack. The Hilux was said to be owned by Fanwo, though the number plate was removed. They trailed us because an aide to the Senator was in the vehicle.
“Security agencies should invite Fanwo because if anything happens to us, he will be held responsible. One of his aides was driving close to the Hilux.
“During the Recall Saga, it was the same Fanwo who led thugs to sack the Office of the Electoral Commission in his Local Government. All the materials used were carted away and up till now, nobody has invited him for questioning.
“Recently, we learnt he gathered some Yagba youths, inciting them against Hon. Sunday Karimi.
“Police should rise above board and summon Fanwo to come and explain where he got the guns he gave to those boys. We should not be afraid of going to our own State for God’s sake.
“Is he above the law? Has the security agencies been fair? We are writing a comprehensive report which will be submitted to the Police. Fanwo is a threat to peace in Kogi State”.
But when contacted, the DG Media said the allegations were ” unfounded, unintelligent and as frivolous as the person who made them .
“We need to keep reminding them that this administration has zero tolerance for criminality. The Governor has made Kogi safer than ever.
“It is another desperate attempt at maligning the government and its officials. “Governor Yahaya Bello didn’t get to power with the help of criminals and that has empowered him to root out criminals from our societies.
“I am a law abiding citizen and someone who operates within the precinct of the New Direction Agenda which preaches peace and development.
“I am not a violent person and will never engage in anti-social activities.
“The person who made the allegations should be bold enough to take such falsehood to security agencies.
“Kogi is a peaceful place under the Governor and criminality will never raise its ugly head again “. he said.
