The Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project, NEWMAP has donated working tools worth millions of naira to Gombe State Emergency Management Agency SEMA.
The items include Stretchers, Rubber Hand Gloves, Dispensable Hand Gloves, Face Mask, Crash Helmet, Rain Boots

Speaking on the occasion, the Project Coordinator, Malam Bala Dozen Nayaya said the idea was to provide support to relevant institutions by strengthening their capacities with a view to improving their service delivery.
‘As the agency responsible for providing immediate relief to disaster victims, it is our firm belief that these tools will enable SEMA staff to rapidly and effectively respond to disaster situations whenever they occur”.
The Gombe State Commissioner for Environment and Forest Resources and Chairperson State Steering Committee of the Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project, Sa’adatu Mustapha reiterated the state government readiness to ameliorate the plight of its communities that are affected by gully erosion in the state.
She commended NEWMAP for supporting SEMA with the working tools and hoped that the items would enhance SEMA’s capacity to reach out to disaster victims and respond to people in distress situations.
The Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency, Dr. Danlami Arabs Rukuje represented by Head of Resettlement, Malam Mohammad Garba promised to use the items judiciously.
