All Progressives Congress, Gombe State northeast of country has suspended the State House of Assembly Minority Leader, Ahmad Usman Haruna from the party for six months
The Vice Chairman of the party, Gombe South, Julius Ishaya disclosed this at a press conference in Gombe over the Mace theft which led to the suspension of four APC members from the House for four sitting.
According to them, Haruna had claimed that Congresses at the ward and local government levels were not held in the state during the APC congresses in May thereby disputing the effort of the Chairman of congresses committee ,Kawu Sumaila who is the Special Adviser to the President and equally disputed the effort of the party leader Senator Mohammed Danjuma Goje.
“This action by Ahmad Usman Haruna is tantamount to anti party activity as he fed the public with wrong information and a conduct that embarrassed the party and equally brought the party into contempt and ridicule .
Ishaya said that Haruna has contravened section 21 sub-section I,ii,iii,v and ix of the All progressives Congress constitution as Amended
“Our committee that we set to investigate the stolen of the Assembly Mace the committee found out that allegedly mace theft was a mere blackmail and deformation of character as the hon house continued with the plenary session on same day and the following day using the same Mace.
“It was also found out that the house suspended the four confirmed APC members for four legislative days without fair hearing and also directed the ethnics and privileges committee to investigate the crisis
“we the state excutive committee of the APC in Gombe we acknowledged and recognized the new leadership of the party as Sadiq Abubkar Ibrahim as Minority Leader, Maigari Jungudo as Deputy, mohammed Bello as minority whip and Abdullahi Abubakar deputy minority Whip and the other three members that support Ahmed Usman Haruna, the party will invited them for discussion.
When contacted the Minority Leader, Ahmed Usman Haruna said that he was unaware of the suspension, adding that the party has no right to suspend him, and that only the Gombe state House of Assembly that can suspend him.
