Nigeria Police Recovers Gombe Assembly Stolen Mace

Nigeria Police Gombe state Command, northeast of the country said on Friday that it has recovered the state Assembly mace stolen by some members on Thursday

The state Commissioner of Police, Tairu Shina Olukolu, disclosed this while speaking with journalists shortly after handing over the Mace to the Speaker, Nasiru Abubakar Nono on Friday.

He said that the police found the Mace behind the National Industrial Court complex, in Gombe.

The Commissioner however warned politicians to refrain from criminal acts in the name of politics that will unnecessary heat up the polity.

Sina Olukolu reminded the legislators that the rule of law is not a respecter of any person and that the law will always take its course

Olukolu said the police are yet to make arrest, and investigation is still ongoing, adding that the vehicle used during the incidence was also recovered

Responding, the Speaker, Nasiru Abubakar Nono commended the security agents for recovering the symbol of authority of the state Assembly and urged the police to bring those perpetrators to book.
