Chairman-elect of Zangon Kataf local government area of Kaduna State Northwest Nigeria, Dr. Elias Manza, has expressed gratitude to Governor Nasiru El-Rufai for giving the people of the state the opportunity to elect those to lead them at the local government level.

He said the turn out of eligible voters at the May 12 local government election shows the enthusiasm of the people in having their representations at the third tier of government.

Speaking to newsmen in Kaduna, the chairman-elect thanked the El-Rufai-led administration in ensuring a peaceful process before, during and after the local government election in the state.

He expressed hope that the other five local government areas where election has been rescheduled to June 2, eligible voters would show the same enthusiasm by coming out to elect candidates of their choice in a peaceful and orderly manner.

“l am indeed grateful to God Almighty that one came out successfully in the chairmanship election. The people of Zangon Kataf local government are also happy for the success recorded. I thank stakeholders, voters, party men and women in the local government for the success of the election.

“I also want to thank the government of Kaduna State for organizing the election and accepting the wishes of the people of Zangon Kataf. I am grateful to my opponent from APC for accepting the result in the spirit of sportsmanship.

“I am happy to say that in my local government, the entire process went on peacefully meaning the people over the years have been interested in their representation at the local government level that was why they came came out in large numbers to cast their votes.”

The chairman-elect expressed hope that with the remaining five local governments where election have been rescheduled for June 2, people would still show the same enthusiasm by coming in large numbers to cast their votes so as to have complete elected officials in the 23 councils in the state.

He assured the people of Zangon Kataf local government area that himself and the councillors elected would not let them down, saying, “My prayer is that my people in Zangon Kataf will not regret electing me and the other councillors to run the council but look forwards to a very exciting 3 years.”

At the end of his tenure, he said, “I want to be remembered as someone who has answered the call of the people and who would also work tirelessly in ensuring that the yearnings and aspirations of the people of the local government are met.
