By Peter Usman : Democratic Peoples Party, DPP has said that the APC led Federal Administration has failed the Nigerians considering the rate of unemployment, adverse economic situation and insecurity across the country.
National Chairman of the party, Garshon Benson stated this in an interview with journalists in Abuja.
Benson revealed that DPP adopted President Buhari in 2006 as its presidential candidate considering his antecedence, saying that with the present situation in the country, they are even regretting for picking him.
He said that the rate of unemployment in the country, incessant killings coupled with bastardized economy situation and hunger that has ravaged every home, have become a thing of worries.
According to him, “Just look at the street of Abuja, the way people are walking on the street now was not like that before and that will tell you that there is hunger in the land. People are finding it difficult to board a cab because of poverty”
“It is heartbreaking that recent statistic has shown that my state, Rivers state has the highest unemployed people in the country despite the fact that there are oil companies like Mobil, Shell, Elf, Total among others in the state” he said.
Benson advised Nigerians from the age of eighteen and above, who have not registered and obtained their Permanent Voters Card, PVC to do so without delay, stating that PVC is their only weapon and tool that could be used to change any government that did not perform well.
The DPP National Chairman also expressed worries as the numbers of people in the Internal Displace Persons; IDPs camps in the country continue to increase on a daily basis without government finding lasting solution to improve the security situation.
“Look at Boko Haram and Fulani Herdsmen, they have ravaged everywhere in the country. The situation in the North East cannot be quelled as Boko Haram activities continue and even in Taraba and Benue states, many have been killed by Fulani Herdsmen.
“A situation whereby people are displaced from their ancestral homes as a result of insecurity is patetic and worrisome which needs urgent intervention of Government. Enough of all the killings” he said.
