Nigeria Labour Congress Asks Gombe To Pay Local Govt. Employees’ Allowances

Nigeria Labour Congress, Gombe State, Northeast of the country has urged the State Governor, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo to pay the balance of 50 percent of leave allowances of local government employees and primary schools teachers.

 

The state Chairman of Congress, Haruna Kamara made the call at the 2018 Workers’ Day at Pantami stadium, Gombe on Tuesday.

 

He also asked the government to pay 10 % of Health workers of local government and implementation of promotion to local government employees and primary school teachers.

 

“More releases to settle the gratuities of retirees in Gombe state and the government should establish a functional printing and publishing company and functional firefighting equipment and befitting office accommodation.

 

Also speaking, Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo who was represented by his Deputy, Charles Iliya assured that the government was ready to review upward the salaries of workers whenever the issue was finalised on the proposal of N66,500 minimum wage by the NLC.

 

“I have listened with keen interest to the speech of the Chairman of the NLC all these are matters that government view with great importance. We shall therefore continue to work in partnership with the leadership of the NLC in resolution and implementation of these important issues in the best interest of the state.
