Former Managing Director of Federal Roads Maintenance, Kabiru Abddullah has called on the Federal and State governments to patronize and encourage indigenous companies to enable them to excel and improve the economy of the country.
Abdullahi, made the call at the 20th anniversary of Tinka Point Nigeria Limited, an indigenous company in Gombe, Northeast of the country over the weekend.
“This will improve employment opportunities for unemployed persons to be employed among others and Tinka Point has performed well in the state and the country at large.” he said.
Also speaking , the guest speaker of the occasion, Former Minister of Education, Dauda Birma, urged Northern youth to embrace education and turn away from taking hard drugs and engaging in political thuggery.
Birma also advised them to emulate the Managing Director Tinka Point, Bala Bello to excel in their life and to be employer of labour
In his address of welcome, the Managing Director of the company, Bala Bello Tinka said, he felt fulfilled for providing employment opportunities to many through the company.
The Managing Director said that, he started with five and 10 casual staff in 1998, and today over 300 permanent and 2,000 casual staff are working on various projects across the country.
Tinka said, so far , the company has provided water supply, hospitals, schools and other community development projects as part of community and social responsibility by the company.
