Gombe State Government, northeast of the country has enjoined the State chapter of Civil Society Scaling Up Nutrition (CS-SUNN) to initiate implementable programmes aimed at solving malnutrition in the State.
Commissioner for Finance, Hassan Muhammad, gave the advise when the State chapter of the CS-SUNN paid him a courtesy visit.
The Commissioner who stressed the need for combined efforts in fighting the high level of malnutrition in the State said no responsible government would be comfortable with the indices.
According to him, “I have stated this before, all we need now is specific programmes and recommendations that would be implemented in the State in fighting malnutrition among our children”.
“We should be talking about results now, it is a very serious issue that requires a serious approach. As a government, we want to feel and touch the results and the releases would come naturally”, he stated.
Earlier, the State Coordinator of CS-SUNN in Comfort M. Ali told the Commissioner that they were in his office to acquaint him of their existence in the state and seek collaboration in fighting malnutrition.
She stated that the North-East, which Gombe is part, has has one of the highest indices of malnutrition in the country , hence the need for all hands to be on deck to tackle the menace.
