Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies and Gauteng Premier David Makhura are expected to launch Gauteng’s Investor One Stop Shop (OSS) on Tuesday in Sandton.
The launch will take place at the Gauteng Investment Centre in Sandton (1 Sandton Drive). The InvestSA One Stop Shop is a government programme that aims to prioritise and promote investment in South Africa.
“The objective of the provincial InvestSA OSS is to provide professional service to all investors through specialist [advice], reducing regulatory inefficiencies and red tape for investors looking to invest in Gauteng,” said the two bodies on Friday.
The launch is a collaboration between different levels of government, with the centre being jointly operated by the dti and the Gauteng Growth and Development Agency.
The InvestSA centres are also used to co-ordinate regulatory, registration, permits and licensing matters.
“Gauteng province is an economic hub for South Africa’s investment opportunities… and hosts major multi-national companies that are increasing their investment in South Africa. The launch will strengthen coordination in the three metros and economic corridors in the province, together with other departments and agencies under one roof,” said Minister Davies.
Gauteng is a leading subnational destination for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into the African continent, while a significant number of businesses seeking opportunities for expansion on the continent have their headquarters in Gauteng.
Premier David Makhura said the InvestSA Gauteng One Stop Shop will further strengthen Gauteng’s position as a preferred and competitive destination for investment.
“It will help reduce the cost and ensure ease of doing business,” said Premier Makhura.
The InvestSA OSS is a Presidential programme to promote and facilitate investment in South Africa. The OSS is rolled out in partnership with provinces to enhance investor facilitation service and offerings to all investors.
The National Invest SA One Stop Shop is housed on the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) campus in Pretoria.
South Africa’s third InvestSA One Stop Shop opened its doors in KwaZulu-Natal in November 2017.
The Western Cape’s OSS opened its doors in September.
