3 Nigerians Docked Over Alleged N250,000 Theft

Three people, Bose Akinpelu, 35, Adewale Odunlade, 32, and Sunday Ayoola, 25, were on Friday arraigned in an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court, Osun, over alleged N250, 000 theft.

The accused persons are facing a three-count charge bordering on stealing and receiving stolen property.

The Police Prosecutor, Sunday Osanyintuyi told the court that the accused committed the offence on March 19 at about 6:30p.m at Olu Elese Area, Ile-Ife.

Osanyintuyi said Akinpelu stole the money from one Mr Adekunle Olalekan and shared it with the other two accused persons.

He said that Odunlade received the sum of N15, 000 knowing full well that the money was stolen.

“Ayoola also received N70, 000 from Akinpelu knowing that she stolen from the complainant,” he said.

The offence contravened sections 383, 390 (9) and 427 of the Criminal Law of Osun, 2002.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Defence Counsel, Mr Leke Dada, urged the court to grant his clients bail in most liberal term, promising that they would not jump bail.

Magistrate Ishola Omisade granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 each with one surety in like sum.

Omisade said the surety must swear to affidavit of means and should resides within the jurisdiction of the court.

He adjourned the case until April 26, for mention.
